There is nothing more powerful then your mind.  Classes, seminars, books and tapes teach how what you think is what you become.  Even biblical principles make references to the power of the mind to who and what we are.  So many of us tell ourselves things every day and do not realize that real impact of what we tell ourselves.  The subconscious brain cannot tell lie from truth. What you tell it consistently, it will make your reality.  For example, "There is not enough money to go around."  Say it enough, and low and behold, there will never be enough money to go around.  It sounds to powerful to be true.

One of the best explanations I have heard is outlined in a book called THE  FOUR AGREEMENTS inside you have an inner judge who is more critical than anybody you've ever met, he/ she is unforgiving and lethal to your self confidence and success. The more you listen to it, the more it's words become your truth in the world.

Affirmationsare the most powerful way to increase your mental abilities, achieve goals, and make other changes in your thinking.  The mind is a powerful component to your success. The best goals in the world avail you nothing if you do not have a belief in yourself to achieve them.

Goals are very important to achieving what you want in life.  The first step in making them a goal instead of a dream is to make sure your goals are very specific. You must set a targeted date for achievement.  They must be realistic and achievable.  Most importantly, they must be visible. Once you have set your goals, find ways to create a method so you can see them daily.  You can use a dream book, a vision board or do as I did, create a background for your desktop that represents a combination of all your goals.  Mine has my future home, my next car, my happy family, my rock spa with its waterfall.  What will yours have?

Another component of the Mental aspect of balance is managing stress to increase focus and concentration.   Stress adds weight to the body, creates eating disorders, and even problems with intimacy.  In addition to taking care of your self talk, other ways you can increase the mind's performance  are though meditation, deep breathing exercises, music therapy, journaling and even Yoga or other exercises.  One does not exclude the other.  You have to find a combination that works for you.  There are also nutritional supplements that help you resist stress, increase focus and concentration.  We even found a dark chocolate to help with focus.

Some great books  and tapes to help with stress management include:

The Relaxation & Stress Reduction Workbook

 Guided Meditations for Stress Reduction

The Attention Revolution: Unlocking the Power of the Focused Mind
